International regulations state that if you have radar on board your yacht, you must know
how to use it.

This one day course is increasingly popular on both sailing and powerboats. It is an invaluable aid for navigation and collision avoidance, but it is only useful in the hands of a knowledgeable operator.

Pre-course knowledge: Basic navigation
Student number: A maximum of 8 students per course. Early booking is advised.
Duration: 1 day

• Basic understanding of radar wave propagation.
• Conditions giving rise to abnormal propagation.
• Set up procedure, functions and correct use of controls.
• Radar set components.
• Target definition and discrimination
• Passive and active Radar reflectors.
• Use of Radar for navigation and collision avoidance.
• Accuracy in range and bearing.
